Re: Spindle speed for 6061 aluminum on a Bridgeport clone. I run 3500 RPM with a 3-flute carbide end mill, 0.002 inch per tooth feed, and flood coolant. Surface finish comes out clean without chatter. Try dropping the DOC to 0.05 inch if you still see vibration.

Anyone sourcing ER32 collets in bulk from Ludhiana? I found a supplier who does sets of 20 for a reasonable rate, but I want to verify the runout before committing. Happy to share the contact if someone has a dial indicator to test them.

Finished the May build challenge: a portable welding cart from 40x40 mm square tube. Casters are 100 mm with locking brakes. I documented the cutting list and joint sequence in the project files. Feedback on the fume extractor mount position is welcome.

For the 3D printing thread on PETG warping: make sure your enclosure stays above 40 C and dry the filament at 65 C for 4 hours before printing. Also check that your first layer height is not below 0.2 mm. That solved my corner lift on large parts.

Maintenance reminder for manual lathe owners: check the clutch friction plate every 300 operating hours. I ignored a slipping clutch for two weeks and ended up replacing the drive belt too. A 15-minute inspection saves a full afternoon of repairs.

Looking for shop layout ideas for a 20x30 ft space. I have a CNC router, a small lathe, and a welding corner. Current plan puts the router near the roll-up door for ventilation. Anyone with a similar footprint want to share their workflow?
